The second edition of the Wild Wye SwimRun will be on Sun 9 June 2024 and the race will start at 10:30.

The Wild Wye SwimRun is a 13km running race with a difference! Starting next to the iconic Chepstow Castle, competitors will run northwards through Gloucestershire for around 6km, including passing through the 1086-metre Tidenham Tunnel on the former Wye Valley Railway. They then swim across the River Wye at high tide – a distance of about 100 metres – and then run back to Chepstow on the Welsh side. This second ‘half’ is slightly longer, totally off-road and rather more undulating than the first! The finish will be in Piercefield Park, next adjacent to Chepstow Racecourse.
The River Wye is an SSSI and much of the route near the river is on private land so this route cannot be used other than for the race. The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) are organising the race and will provide safety cover for the river crossing. Competitors who do not wish to swim can pay extra and SARA will take them across by boat!
The event is a race and there will be prizes. Drinks will be provided after the river crossing and at Lower Wyndcliff Car Park (at roughly 9km).
This year a maximum of 150 competitors will be allowed.
